1960’s French Baumann Letterbox Dining Chair. Baumann is a slightly off the radar French producer just starting to gain traction in the market. Baumann was founded in 1901, by Swiss man Emile Baumann, in Colombier Fontaine, France. Baumann started producing a simple child’s chair but grew rapidly to be a large bentwood producer with showrooms all over France. In our view the chairs of the 50’s and 60′ are their best, beautifully made and designed. We don’t know the model name but we call it the letterbox, with an elegant shaped seat and back in laminated and bent beech. Our workshop has cleaned, waxed and serviced each chair. We only sell the very best chairs in great condition with rich colour and character. Seat Height: 46cm.
Workshop Report:
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
