Dr Auzoux

As a team we scour Europe always on the hunt for unusual and interesting educational charts. We always have a good selection of classic educational posters which were used in schools and universities throughout Europe often right through to the 1950’s, before the white board and LED screen took over. Dr Auzoux is one of our favourites, in the 1940’s Paul Sougy, a gifted illustrator and curator of natural history at the Orleans Science Museum, southwest of Paris, was commissioned by the estate of French naturalist Jerome Auzoux to create a series of educational illustrations based on the work of Dr Auzoux. Sougy created a stunning numbered series of illustrations which were used in books and educational charts, rich in graphic form they are stunning artworks in their own right.
