1950’s Very Large Cast Aluminium Explosion Proof Convex Factory Hanging Lights. Holophane was founded in England in the late 19th Century and they are famous for their inventing and perfecting borosilicate glass reflectors often with intricate cast glass patterns which give a diffused and beautiful light. They also made these extremely heavy weight industrial electrical fixtures for power stations, mines, oil rigs and so on, typically made to survive extensive fire or explosion damage allowing electrical circuits and lighting to continue working after such extreme events. These lamps are extremely heavy weight cast aluminium bodies with cast glass lenses. The lamps have been cleaned and restored and all electrical components have been removed and replaced with modern European CE standard components to BS EN 60598. Each lamp is individually tested and labelled to BS EN 60598. Each lamp comes completely wired and ready to install including; 2 metres of heavy chain for hanging the lamps, 2 metres of black fabric covered electrical cable and a ceiling anchor point as shown. These lamps are incredibly heavy approximately 25kg so please ensure ceiling fixing is capable and secure. Each lamp is fitted with a standard E27 threaded lamp holder for which a wide range of modern and vintage style filament bulbs are widely available. We do not currently sell bulbs and recommend LED bulbs 6W maximum. We can also supply more than 2 metres of hanging cable, chain etc. as required, please contact us separately to discuss.
