1950’s Workshop Task Lamp By Mek Elek. The lamp was produced by MEK ELEK, the company was founded in Mitcham Surrey in 1931 by H.C. Cooper, their key product was the Mek Elite or Mekelite – a light specifically designed for use in factories with it’s highly adjustable heavy duty arm. The lamp has been cleaned and restored but we have left the history and character, and all electrical components have been removed and replaced with modern European CE standard components to BS EN 60598. The lamp is individually tested and labelled to BS EN 60598. The lamp comes completely wired and ready to use as shown. We have mounted the lamp on a small slab of salvaged Iroko which is counter weighted underneath. The lamp is fitted with a standard E27 threaded lamp holder for which a wide range of modern and vintage style filament bulbs are widely available. We do not currently sell bulbs and recommend LED bulbs 6W maximum. The lamp is currently wired and fitted for UK and EU compliance. Please note the correct plug will be fitted for use in the delivery address country. The height of the lamp is measured when it’s fully extended.
