Before the cardboard box became the ubiquitous container it is today the crate was the go to container used to pack and ship goods principally from supplier to market. We hunt out the best crates, crates with makers marks or makers labels. Our favourite crates are the fruit crates from the fifties (especially the American ones) with colourful graphics. Great practical decorative storage pieces.
