Tuareg Rugs

Tuareg rugs are rare and very special, intricately made from fine grass reed and bound with goatskin or camel leather, each rug is hand made by the Tuareg tribes who live in desert regions of North Africa; Niger, Mali, Libya, Algeria and Burkina Faso. The rugs were traditionally made to be light weight and transportable and were simply dyed using the limited vegetation and plants available. The Tuareg tribes of the Sahara are the originators of this rug. These tribes use reed, palm, and camel or goat skin to create their mats. . Incredible statement pieces that add character and warmth.
