Description:

1950's Oak Rectangular Dining Table By Pierre Gautier-Delaye. Pierre Gautier-Delaye was an important mid century designer in France, trained at the Paris School of Decorative Arts. Delaye initially started work as a draughtsman, then joined the interior design department of Raymond Loewy's studio before starting his own firm in Faubourg St Honor? Street, Paris. Made from solid oak, the table shows the refined attention to detail and the focus of Delaye on pure materials. The top is made from solid oak planks which are split into two pieces with a central opening. The round legs are supported by turned sub rails which are notched into the legs. The legs are joined into the top with simple round tenon joints, the sub frame is a strong structure. Beautiful mid century French design. The table came from a college in France and we show it in the form we purchased it, the table has the knocks of daily use but the appeal is the worn and bleached out colour which we have retailed without resorting to over waxing or restoration. Knee height clearance 60cm.
