Azilal rugs are the most exuberant and colourful of Berber rugs, Diamonds shapes and strong lines play heavily into the design of Azilal rugs. They are made from pure sheep wool occasionally mixed with cotton and horizontally woven using a gridded line of knots. They us the bright colours typical of Boucherouite rugs mixed with the patterns found in Beni Ourain rugs. Bold geometric tribal designs are almost always used on a cream or white background.
