1950’s Oak Dining Chairs By Pierre Gautier-Delaye – Set Of Four. Pierre Gautier-Delaye was an important mid century designer in France, trained at the Paris School of Decorative Arts. Delaye initially started work as a draughtsman, then joined the interior design department of Raymond Loewy’s studio before starting his own firm in Faubourg St Honor? Street, Paris. Made from solid oak, the chairs show the refined attention to detail and the focus of Delaye on pure materials. The seats are made from solid oak which is split into two pieces with a gentle angle for comfort. The legs joined into the seat with simple round tenon joints, the frame a strong cross structure. Beautiful mid century French design. Seat height 46cm.
