We Have a Wide Range of Vintage Seating Options Available
We have a weakness for vintage seating, from armchairs to vintage dining chairs, benches and stools. Vintage seating can be used practically for relaxed seating, or we love it used as a room accent or a statement piece. The other fun thing about general seating is it can be used creatively to bring people together socially, whether armchairs in a living room or just a few stools dotted around a kitchen.
Most of our vintage seating is sourced from iconic 20th– Century European makers. The history and provenance behind our pieces are fundamental to understanding and appreciating their heritage. We love to research the past and do our best to share that with you.
We are passionate about rescuing these beautiful pieces of furniture and sympathetically restoring them so they can live a second life, we don’t shout about the environmental benefit but it’s a bi-product we are proud of and more often than not the quality of manufacture is better than it is today.
We are champions of the forgotten 20th-century makers of vintage seating and usually carry stock from some of the iconic makers such as Mullca, Thonet, Mucke Melder to name a few. But seating is a broad category so we have recently divided it up to make it easier to shop.
A statement vintage armchair can really make the difference, nestled into the corner of most rooms they sit there with presence and attitude, inviting you to relax. We usually stock a good range of armchairs both upholstered and without. We scour Europe for the best examples and some of our favourite makers.
Not easy to source but we love finding a good bench. Vintage benches are great in a hallway as a welcoming place to stop or they can be great around a long table instead of chairs, you can squeeze more friends in and it can be so much more convivial.
A good ‘industrial’ swivel chair has gained an almost cult-like status in the last few years. The heyday of the swivel chair was in the 1930s when the modern office emerged, and practical chairs were needed for a new way of working. Some famous makers were Giroflex, Bombenstabil, and Tan Sad amongst many others.
As champions of the forgotten maker our chairs come with a history and provenance and many of the makers have rich stories of their industrial past.
