1950’s Tall Haberdashery Cabinet – Sixteen Drawer
Description
1950’s Tall Haberdashery Cabinet – Sixteen Drawer. Founded in 1848 as a private cabinetmaker, D. Matthews and Son became a limited company in 1931 and was eventually taken over in 1999. Based in Liverpool, the firm was essentially shop fitters, working mainly with haberdashers, tailors and pharmacists. Made principally in solid oak this is a stunning example of their work. The cabinet feature sixteen practical glass fronted drawers , each of which runs smoothly and retains the original cast metal handles. This cabinet dates from the late forties, early fifties, and we love the rounded lozenge shaped glass drawers fronts which give a softer feel. The cabinet is beautifully made with fully panelled oak sides. The cabinet is made in one piece. Internal dimensions: Drawers 41L x 40W x 13H. Cupboard 41L x 87W x 45H all cm.
