1950’s Tall French Slim Two Door Oak Shelved Cabinet

Description

1950’s Tall French Slim Two Door Oak Shelved Cabinet. We sadly don’t know much history of this cabinet but we believe it came from the production rooms of a French vineyard. The cabinet is beautifully made in oak throughout, mainly solid, with a rich original colour and rich panelled sides. The two doors open smoothly and fully, and slightly recessed behind the doors are the shelves which give sixteen good sized (fixed) pigeon hole shelves, each retaining the original brass label markers. The cabinet hardware is of exceptional quality with solid brass hinges and solid brass plates and closures on the doors. The lock is sadly missing but we like it as it is, the doors simply push to close and catches keep the doors shut. The expensive construction and detailing all point to a cabinet that was in the public eye but the slightly masculine design and numbered door hint at it’s practical use rather than as an atelier cabinet. A great solid piece of history. Internal pigeon hole dimensions 24L x 25W x 8.5H all cm.
