1950’s Birch Fronted Sylko Cotton Haberdashery Storage Unit – Fifty Drawers.

Description

1950’s birch fronted Sylko cotton haberdashery storage unit – fifty drawers. We recently salvaged a whole collection of original haberdashery shop cabinets from the original haberdashers in the north of England. Totally original and in exceptional condition. The carcass is principally oak with solid beech drawers and birch fronts. Exceptionally original throughout with a full set of original handles and wonderful glass small drawers, the cabinet was used to hold back up stock of the cotton colours. Dewhurst & Sons produced the Sylko range of machine twist cotton, the most popular range of cottons used in the UK.
Famous for their wooden bobbins and iconic label and sadly no longer in production. Founded in 1820, the mercerised cotton thread was produced by John Dewhurst and Sons from their Scalegill Mill, in Kirkby Malham, North Yorkshire. Cabinet production by Abel Morrall Ltd, Redditch. Internal dimensions: Drawers 49L X 32W X 3.5H
Cupboard: 21.5H X 35W X 54L
