1950’s Bentwood Debrecen Dining Chairs – Set Of Eight (1683.6)

Description

1950’s Bentwood Debrecen Dining Chairs – Set Of Eight. It is hard to be precise about the origin of these chairs as little history is known, but what we do know is at the beginning of the 20th Century two producers existed J&J Kohn and Mundus. Both produced chairs in various factories throughout the Austro Hungarian empire. These chairs are an early model but with later production, probably 1950’s, they are not labelled except with the marking of the steam bending factory in Debrecen Hungary so likely to be a small surviving factory doing it’s own small production in Hungary. We know it is a Mundus model because we have seen marked examples. Either way, beautiful surviving and fascinating chairs. All our chairs pass through our own workshop where they are gently serviced and sensitively restored, we only sell vintage of excellent quality. Seat height 47cm.
