1940’s Nicolle Pair Of Low Industrial Swivelling Stools

1940’s Nicolle Pair Of Low Industrial Swivelling Stools. One of our all time favourite products, exceptional in design with the minimal use of materials yet strong, well proportioned and so beautiful. Sourced from a workshop in France these stools are recognisable as early production by the following features: The wide 37cm diameter seat, the heavy gauge steel construction, the solid steel small bun feet and the heavy collar around the swivel mechanism. The stools have immense character, retaining their original paint and in full working order. In 1913 Paul-Henry Nicolle started his industrial journey as a metal presser and stamper and developed this famous stool in 1933 (and also a wonderful stool with the eponymous whale tail backrest) for use in his own factory before demand saw it sold throughout France. The original design featured three legs but was changed to four in 1936. The seat is 37cm in diameter. Lowest seat height 44cm, highest seat height 64cm.
