1940’s Horgen Glarus Bentwood Dining Chairs – Set Of Seven
Description
1940’s Horgen Glarus Bentwood Dining Chairs – Set Of Seven. This rare Thonet style product is one of the best sets of chairs we have sourced from Horgen Glarus the oldest surviving furniture producer in Switzerland. Established in 1880 in Horgen near Zurich and expanded in 1902 to include the company’s workshop in Glarus. In terms of design and quality, it has ranked among the world’s finest furniture makers for more than 135 years. Le Corbusier, for example, exhibited chairs crafted by Horgen Glarus at his “Pavillon de l’Esprit Nouveau” at the “Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs” in Paris. This is a beautifully made set of heavy weight and excellent quality chairs with a rich colour and age but still in exceptional condition. Of good scale the backs are steam bent beech as is the seat and frames. Just beautiful chairs. Seat height 46cm.
