Description:

1930's Thonet tambour fronted oak cabinet. Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is an exceptional and rare tambour fronted filing cabinet from the 1930's, provenanced with its original Thonet branding stamped into the top of the Tambour slide. The cabinet features eighteen original pull out shelves making this a beautiful and practical piece. The cabinet retains its original brassware, lock and key. Internal dimensions for the drawers are 32cm deep, 39 cm wide and 7cm high.
