1930’s Original Suroy Tall Industrial Storage Boxes – Three Available

Description

1930’s original Suroy tall industrial storage boxes. In 1853 the textile industrial revolution arrived in Loos, Nord France with the formation of the Esquermes factory by Alfred Thirez. The factories produced cotton thread for sewing and embroidery. Suroy was born from the practical need to provide hard wearing dry, robust containers that could store the textile raw materials. Made from a dusty earth red vulcanised/boiled card with rivetted construction and usually (but not always) marked with the Suroy Lion brand. These very early storage boxes are all branded and unusually retain their original card bases. Perfect for hall storage, dry umbrellas and so on. Priced individually. Each box is Suroy branded.
