1930’s Original Marked Thonet Bentwood Dining Chairs – Dark Stained Beech – Large Quantity Available
1930’s original marked Thonet bentwood dining chairs – dark stained beech – Large quantities available. These chairs are one of our favourite finds this year. We have a large quantity sourced from an abandoned cinema in the Czech Republic. They don’t get much better than this, nearly all the chairs bear the Thonet stamp under the seat and most also have the original paper label stuck on the sub frame. The shape is classic Thonet, given their age, they are in excellent condition. The stunning original feature of these chairs is the stenciled white seat numbers that appear on most of the chairs. Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. We have a number of these chairs available and are selling them in any multiple required, sets of four, six, eight or simply in singles. We service and wax each chair individually before they leave our workshop and we deliver chairs of excellent quality. We specialise in high quality vintage chairs and have a large range. We only sell the very best chairs in great condition with rich colour and patina, please see the other chairs we have listed and please contact us for more details or advice. Seat height as photographed 47cm.
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
