1930’s Inkwell cupboard
Date stamped 1933 this is a very original school inkwell storage cupboard. In the thirties student desks had individual inkwells and at the end of the day it was the ‘monitors’ responsibility to take trays to each classroom and collect up the inkwells for storage and filling. There are roughly two and a half trays of beautiful ceramic inkwells including a handful of bakelite ESA wells. To make this into a stunning practical storage unit the flat trays (with holes) holding the wells are removable leaving practical drawer shelves.
Note the key from the door lock is missing.
