1920’s Thonet Original Double Rail Decorated Bentwood Chairs – Set Of Seven. Founded in the early 19th Century by Michael Thonet, Thonet invented the process of steam bending wood under pressure and used this to design the classic bentwood chairs still in production today. In the 19th Century he had a large network of shops throughout Europe and was a huge furniture retailer. This is an extraordinary set of original decorated chairs with a very rich colour and character in exceptional condition. The chairs have a distinctive double rail back, recessed seats and many years of character. The chairs have been gently refurbished in our own workshops and are in excellent working condition. The seats are made in the classic bentwood style of early Thonet pieces with side supports. The chairs have a rich honey colour and character. Seat Height 47cm
