1920’s Small Letter Filing Cabinet By Amberg File And Index Co Ltd

1920’s Letter Filing Cabinet By Amberg File And Index Co Ltd. An original twelve drawer letter filing cabinet with file drawers in which papers and letters were stored and indexed flat. Each drawer contains the original sprung metal clips to hold papers in place as well as the original alphabetical dividers, e.g., the A drawer has a divider for Aa to Ac followed by a divider for Ad to Ae, etc. Cameron Amberg & Co. was established in the U.S. in 1868 with patents awarded for the sprung metal clips. After international expansion offices were opened in London where this cabinet originated from. The cabinet is beautifully made in solid oak throughout with dovetailed drawers. The small hairpin legs are not original and have doubtless been added at some stage to raise the height, we sort of like the contrast but they can easily be removed if required. A stunning and rare piece. Internal drawer dimensions 30L x 34W x 9H all cm.
