1950’s James Leonard ESA Chairs
We are big fans of the ESA story and are surprised that it has not had more visibility in the UK. I will do a separate blog entry but in essence ESA was a wonderful British company running in the 50’s and 60’s which pioneered the introduction of good quality well designed furniture principally into schools. James Leonard was the main designer and he championed good design, utilitarian in form and function. We found this set of chairs through a great friend of ours in the Midlands and snapped them up. They are in excellent condition, and brand stamped as expected. We have a large run so perfect for cafes and bars as well as for super cool use at home. The chairs are principlally beech with incredibly strong laminated (several layers glued together) legs. These are becoming increasingly rare, the genuine article. Seat Height 45cm. Volume available.
Our workshop team inspect every product and carry out any needed repairs to ensure that everything leaves us serviced and maintained ready for many more years of life. All of our vintage products show the rich beauty and history of their life with the knocks and bumps of many years of use and we try to minimise restoration to keep every piece as original as possible.
